I’ve been waiting for a long time because I knew what to correct. I found that out early in the season last year. “Coming into year two, I definitely have the hang of everything, just knowing the playbook, what Pat likes, Coach Reid likes,” Moore said Wednesday. He ended his rookie season by scoring his first touchdown in the Chiefs’ comeback victory against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. The Chiefs expect to utilize Moore, with more snaps, as a slot receiver. In 16 games, Moore produced 22 receptions for 250 yards. He’s so willing, though.”Īs a rookie, Moore was a rotational contributor on offense while enduring growing pains as the Chiefs’ primary punt returner for the first half of last season. “Skyy was one of the higher-targeted receivers,” Reid said. In a team period Tuesday, Mahomes completed consecutive side-arm passes to Moore, who created plenty of separation while making the reception in stride. Skyy Moore, the second-year receiver, was one of the biggest winners from the minicamp. Reid acknowledged that almost all of his players are expected to be ready when the Chiefs open their training camp in about five weeks. Perhaps the biggest positional battles in camp will involve the third unit: special teams, specifically which player will earn the role of kickoff returner and punt returner. But unlike last year, the Chiefs are not expected to start any of their rookies. The Chiefs still have an intriguing rookie class, those players known for their reliability, durability and production during their college years. Another example was on display during the Chiefs minicamp, as most of the team’s starting positions have already been secured. The Chiefs, as they’ve been since the arrival of superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, have been one of NFL’s exceptions when compared to most teams. “They pushed themselves, they challenged each other, and it’s a good foundation to take up to camp.” “The guys came out relatively healthy and ready to go,” Reid said Thursday following the team’s final exercise this week. Even more important, Reid was able to have almost all of his players leave the Chiefs’ training facility Thursday with a clear idea of how their role will help the team for the upcoming season, a campaign in which the franchise will attempt to become back-to-back Super Bowl champions, a feat that last happened with the 2004 New England Patriots.
